Ashok Pathak is originally from Siwan in Bihar. The family moved to Faridabad in Haryana for work. Ashok’s childhood was spent in poverty. His uncle used to go to sell cotton, so Ashok also started helping him from childhood. Ashok says that he used to go from village to village selling cotton by carrying a bundle of cotton on his bicycle. He used to earn around hundred rupees every day from this work.
Meanwhile, as he grew up, he got caught in many vices due to bad company. He got addicted to things like gutkha, paan, tobacco. During a conversation, Ashok says that the child with whom every parent stops their child from playing, I was that child in my childhood.
Meanwhile, Ashok’s family shifted to Hisar for work. And then somehow Ashok also joined college after studying till 12th. Ashok’s journey of transformation started from here. Ashok says that whatever I am today, the biggest contribution behind it is the education I got in college.
Actually, Ashok, who was fond of singing and films, started participating in theatre since his college days. Be it cultural festivals or theatre plays, Ashok was always at the forefront in everything. Meanwhile, Ashok had also started dreaming of going to Bollywood and acting.
Ashok says that when people heard that Ashok wanted to act, their reaction was something like this, what are you joking about, you have the looks, what will you do by going to Bollywood. Even then I thought that I will do something or the other.
Meanwhile, he got forty thousand rupees for performing a play in the college festival and he reached Mumbai with this money. The special thing was that as soon as Ashok reached Mumbai, he passed many auditions and started getting work. Ashok says that within a month of going to Mumbai, he had more than one lakh rupees in his account.
Ashok was not sure about the Panchayat web series at first, so he initially refused to play this character. But later on a friend’s insistence, he played the character of Binod and today this character has become immortal. Everyone openly praised Ashok Pathak’s acting in the role of Binod.
Let us tell you that Ashok Pathak has played important roles in many films and web series including ‘Sacred Games’, ‘Panchayat’, ‘Aarya’, ‘Shanghai’, ‘Highway’ and ‘Class of 83’ as well as ‘Fukrey Returns’. But the fame that the character of Vinod has given him is amazing.
